The Greasy Strangler

Elijah Wood’s horror movie company SpectreVision has joined forces with Drafthouse Films, Rook Films, and Timpson Films to produce The Greasy Strangler, it was announced today. The movie is directed by first-time filmmaker Jim Hosking, who previously oversaw one of the tales in the recent anthology film ABCs of Death 2.

According to the official synopsis, The Greasy Strangler concerns a character called Ronnie, who “runs a Disco Walking tour in L.A. along with his browbeaten son, Brayden. When a sexy, alluring woman comes to take the tour, it begins a competition between father and son for her attentions. It also signals the appearance of an oily, slimy inhuman maniac who stalks the streets at night and strangles the innocent, soon dubbed ‘The Greasy Strangler.’ ” The film will be produced by Wood and SpectreVision co-founders Daniel Noah, Josh C. Waller, along with Andrew Starke of Rook Films and Timpson Films founder Ant Timpson. Kill List director Ben Wheatley and Drafthouse Films’ Tim League will serve as executive producers. The Greasy Strangler is written by Hosking and Toby Harvard.
