Elijah Wood, the actor who brought Frodo Baggins to life in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, will be in Calgary this month for the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo. The American actor is best known for his role in the film series, which brought the popular fantasy books by J.R.R. Tolkien to the big screen.
The actor, who starred in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings adaptations, as well as other films such as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Sin City, will be in town Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29 during the Calgary Expo, which runs April 26-29 on the Stampede Grounds. He’ll sit in on a panel Sunday at 11 a.m. in the Corral, free with admission, and be available for autographs and photo ops over the two days at an extra fee.
Wood, who will be attending for the first time in the Expo’s 13 years, joins other celebrity guests this year including Jeff Goldblum, Paul Reubens (a.k.a.Pee-wee Herman), Wil Wheaton, Jason Momoa, Anthony Daniels, Megan Follows, Lou Ferrigno, a Back to the Future reunion with Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson and Tom Wilson, and a Princess Bride reunion featuring Cary Elwes, Chris Sarandon and Wallace Shawn.
